Breast plastic surgery or mammoplasty is a group of procedures designed to increase, reduce, lift or rebuild the volume of breasts to improve their aesthetics. There are three main breast plastic surgeries: breast augmentation, breast reduction and breast lift.

Breast augmentation
Breast augmentation surgery increases the breasts volume. It reshapes the size of the breasts without leaving excessively visible scars. It is recommended to correct breast hypoplasia, in other words the insufficient development of the breast. A boob augmentation surgery can be undergone to increase the volume and also to correct a lack of symetry.
The surgeon has the choice between three ways for the breast implant placement: subglandular, subpectoral, or submuscular.
Breast augmentation can be done by breast implants as well as by fat injection. In the latter case, it is called al ipofilling which is another way to increase the breast without using implants: This method involves taking excess fat stored in certain areas of the body of the patient to then reinject it into the thoraco-mammary region (after purification of the fat cells and treatment of the stem cells), in order to improve the breasts volume and appearance. Breast reduction
Breast reduction is recommended for women with excessively large breasts who wish to reduce their size. The weight of big breasts can cause back pain and discomfort to the patient. As a result, wearing a bra can irritate the skin at the shoulders. The breast reduction technique reduces the size of the breasts. During a breast reduction intervention, excess fat and skin are removed. Therefore, the breasts are reshaped in a harmonious way with the patient's body, while the nipple and areola are repositioned.
Furthermore, breast reduction procedure may be recommended to adjust breast size when one is much larger than the other one, a condition known as breast asymmetry.
Breast lift
The breasts often change over time, losing their form, tone and youth. The breast lift treats sagging skin of the breasts, as they lose their volume and elasticity and might become sources of physical disability and shame. To get rid of sagging breasts, some women opt for pharmaceutical products such as massages with lotions and creams, but the result is not satisfactory or long lasting. A breast lift, also known as a mastopexy, tonifies the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and get a better breast contour. Sometimes the areola widens over time, breast lift can also fix that.
Furthermore, the plastic surgeon can combine a breast lift with breast implants if one of the breasts appears to be lacking volume, or with a breast reduction of the volume of the breasts isn case of an asymmetry.
